Suggested Courses for First-Year Engineering Students Everyone comes to Nile Higher Institute of Engineering and Technology
with a different background and aspirations.
The suggestions on this page are intended only to help you to understand some
of your options.
There are many ways to start the engineering curriculum, and your freshman advisor will work with you to
design a program that fits your goals.
During your first semester, you could consider taking the following courses: BAS 031 (Mechanics) and A mathematics course (eg BAS 011) and BAS 021 (Physics 1). Either a computer science course (eg HUM 081), a chemistry course (eg BAS 041) depending on your interests An elective from the humanities and social Sciences (eg HUM 012) Second Semester Courses For the second semester, you could consider taking: Students take Mathematics course BAS 012 (Mathematics (2)) and physical course BAS 022 (Physics 2). MED 021 (History of Engineering and Technology. An Engineering drawing & Projection and Principles of manufacturing engineering course (MED 011 & MED 022). An additional language courses are taken HUM 013 (English 2) and HUM 011 (Arabic Language). Either a computer science courses (eg HUM 081 “Computer Skills”), depending on your interests an elective from the humanities and social sciences.
